April 7, 2010 BVI Spring Regatta 2010- RSSS’ Student Racers Take First in Nanny Cay Cup and 2nd and 5th in the Spring Regatta Conditions this year were light to moderate for the BVI with winds to 18 kts. RSSS entered two boats in the Bareboat B class, both commanded by students with their instructors assisting with tactics. Four races were completed over the Regatta weekend combining around island racing with some triangles in the Sir Francis Drake Channel and Caribbean Sea. Students alternated between driving, trimming and tactics, giving everyone plenty of experience at these various roles. Both groups of students had impressive showings with a 2nd and 5th place finish in the Regatta and a 1st place finish in the Nanny Cay Cup for the crew of Perelandra, the Beneteau 36. Both teams had a wonderful week, and we congratulate them on their achievements. |
