John teaches at our Jamestown, RI campus. An avid sailor since first stepping into a boat at the age of ten and taking classes at the East Greenwich Yacht Club on Narragansett Bay in RI. Starting out in his first boat, a sunfish, at the age of 12 he moved on to Laser’s and a variety of other small boats as an intercollegiate sailor. Through high school and college he taught at his home club and was head instructor through his college years.

As the owner of an independent insurance agency and past Commodore of the Newport Yacht Club John has able pursue his sailing avocation campaigning first a Snipe with his wife, Lori throughout the North East, then later a Freers 33, and a Pearson 10 Meter. After selling his business, John is enjoying a cruising lifestyle with Lori on their Nonsuch 30.

John is US Sailing instructor certified.  He has a 50 ton USCG license with sailing and towing endorsements. In addition to working with us at New England Sailing Center, John spends his free time driving a tour boat out of Newport and as a delivery captain.
